إِنَّمَاٱلسَّبِيلُعَلَىٱلَّذِينَيَسْتَـْٔذِنُونَكَوَهُمْأَغْنِيَآءُرَضُوا۟بِأَنيَكُونُوا۟مَعَٱلْخَوَالِفِوَطَبَعَٱللَّهُعَلَىٰقُلُوبِهِمْفَهُمْلَايَعْلَمُونَ ٩٣
Saheeh International
The cause [for blame] is only upon those who ask permission of you while they are rich. They are satisfied to be with those who stay behind, and Allah has sealed over their hearts, so they do not know.

Tafseer 'Tafsir Ibn Kathir' (IN)
Allah Swt. menunjukkan cela-Nya terhadap orang-orang yang meminta izin untuk tinggal di tempat dan tidak mau pergi berjihad, padahal mereka adalah orang-orang kaya. Allah mengecam kerelaan mereka yang memilih duduk di Madinah bersama kaum wanita yang ditinggalkan di kemahnya masing-masing. Hal ini diungkapkan melalui firman-Nya:
...dan Allah telah mengunci mati hati mereka, maka mereka tidak mengetahui (akibat perbuatan mereka).
