While the Hereafter is better and more enduring.

Tafseer 'Tanweer Tafseer' (AR)

وَالْآَخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى (17)وجملة : { والآخرة خير وأبقى } عطف على جملة التوبيخ عطفَ الخبر على الإنشاء لأن هذا الخبر يزيد إنشاءَ التوبيخ توجيهاً وتأييداً بأنهم في إعراضهم عن النظر في دلائل حياة آخرة قد أعرضوا عما هو خير وأبقَى .و { أبقى } : اسم تفضيل ، أي أطول بقاءً ، وفي حديث النهي عن جَرِّ الإزار « وليكن إلى الكعبين فإنه أتقَى وأبْقَى » .
