7:83
فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُوَأَهْلَهُۥٓإِلَّاٱمْرَأَتَهُۥكَانَتْمِنَٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ ٨٣

Saheeh International

So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; she was of those who remained [with the evildoers].

Tafseer 'Qurtubi Tafseer' (AR)

من الغابرين أي الباقين في عذاب الله ; قاله ابن عباس وقتادة . غبر الشيء إذا مضى ، وغبر إذا بقي . وهو من الأضداد . وقال قوم : الماضي عابر بالعين غير معجمة . والباقي غابر بالغين معجمة . حكاه ابن فارس في المجمل . وقال الزجاج : من الغابرين أي من الغائبين عن النجاة وقيل : لطول عمرها . قال النحاس : وأبو عبيدة يذهب إلى أن المعنى من المعمرين ; أي إنها قد هرمت . والأكثر في اللغة أن يكون الغابر الباقي ; قال الراجز :فما ونى محمد مذ أن غفر له الإله ما مضى وما غبر
