7:193
وَإِنتَدْعُوهُمْإِلَىٱلْهُدَىٰلَايَتَّبِعُوكُمْسَوَآءٌعَلَيْكُمْأَدَعَوْتُمُوهُمْأَمْأَنتُمْصَٰمِتُونَ ١٩٣

Saheeh International

And if you [believers] invite them to guidance, they will not follow you. It is all the same for you whether you invite them or you are silent.

Tafseer 'Baghawy Tafseer' (AR)

( وإن تدعوهم إلى الهدى ) إن تدعوا المشركين إلى الإسلام ، ( لا يتبعوكم ) قرأ نافع بالتخفيف وكذلك : " يتبعهم الغاوون " في الشعراء ( الآية 224 ) وقرأ الآخرون بالتشديد فيهما وهما لغتان ، يقال : تبعه تبعا وأتبعه إتباعا . ( سواء عليكم أدعوتموهم ) إلى الدين ، ( أم أنتم صامتون ) عن دعائهم لا يؤمنون ، كما قال : " سواء عليهم أأنذرتهم أم لم تنذرهم لا يؤمنون " ( البقرة - 6 ) وقيل : " وإن تدعوهم إلى الهدى " يعني : الأصنام ، لا يتبعوكم لأنها غير عاقلة .
