وَإِنِّىكُلَّمَادَعَوْتُهُمْلِتَغْفِرَلَهُمْجَعَلُوٓا۟أَصَٰبِعَهُمْفِىٓءَاذَانِهِمْوَٱسْتَغْشَوْا۟ثِيَابَهُمْوَأَصَرُّوا۟وَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ٱسْتِكْبَارًا ٧

Saheeh International

And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance.

Tafseer 'Tafsir Ahsanul Bayaan' (UR)

میں نے جب کبھی انہیں تیری بخشش کے لئے بلایا (١) انہوں نے اپنی انگلیاں اپنے کانوں میں ڈال لیں (٢) اور اپنے کپڑوں کو اوڑھ لیا اور اڑ گئے (٣) اور پھر بڑا تکبر کیا، (٤) ٧۔١ یعنی ایمان اور اطاعت کی طرف، جو سبب مغفرت ہے۔ ٧۔٢ تاکہ میری آواز سن سکیں۔ تاکہ میرا چہرہ نہ دیکھ سکیں یا اپنے سروں پر کپڑے ڈال دیے تاکہ میرا کلام نہ سن سکیں ٧۔٣ یعنی کفر پر مصر رہے، اس سے باز نہ آئے اور توبہ نہیں کی۔ ٧۔٤ قبول حق اور امتثال امر سے انہوں نے سخت تکبر کیا۔
