وَأَمَّاعَادٌفَأُهْلِكُوا۟بِرِيحٍصَرْصَرٍعَاتِيَةٍ ٦

Saheeh International

And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind

Tafseer 'Tanweer Tafseer' (AR)

وَأَمَّا عَادٌ فَأُهْلِكُوا بِرِيحٍ صَرْصَرٍ عَاتِيَةٍ (6) الصرصر : الشديدة يكون لها صوت كالصرير وقد تقدم عند قوله تعالى : { فأرسلنا عليهم ريحاً صرصراً في أيام نحسات } في سورة فصلت ( 16 ) . والعاتية : الشديدة العَصف ، وأصل العُتُوِّ والعُتِيِّ : شدة التكبر فاستعير للشيء المتجاوزِ الحدَّ المعتادَ تشبيهاً بالتكبر الشديد في عدم الطاعة والجري على المعتاد .
