إِنَّابَلَوْنَٰهُمْكَمَابَلَوْنَآأَصْحَٰبَٱلْجَنَّةِإِذْأَقْسَمُوا۟لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَامُصْبِحِينَ ١٧

Saheeh International

Indeed, We have tried them as We tried the companions of the garden, when they swore to cut its fruit in the [early] morning

Tafseer 'Ibn Kathir' (AR)

هذا مثل ضربه الله تعالى لكفار قريش فيما أهدى إليهم من الرحمة العظيمة وأعطاهم من النعمة الجسيمة وهو بعثة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم إليهم فقابلوه بالتكذيب والرد والمحاربة ولهذا قال تعالى "إنا بلوناهم" أي اختبرناهم "كما بلونا أصحاب الجنة" وهي البستان المشتمل على أنواع الثمار والفواكه "إذ أقسموا ليصر منها مصبحين" أي حلفوا فيما بينهم ليجذن ثمرها ليلا لئلا يعلم بهم فقير ولا سائل ليتوفر ثمرها عليهم ولا يتصدقوا منه بشيء.
