إِنْهِىَإِلَّآأَسْمَآءٌسَمَّيْتُمُوهَآأَنتُمْوَءَابَآؤُكُممَّآأَنزَلَٱللَّهُبِهَامِنسُلْطَٰنٍإِنيَتَّبِعُونَإِلَّاٱلظَّنَّوَمَاتَهْوَىٱلْأَنفُسُوَلَقَدْجَآءَهُممِّنرَّبِّهِمُٱلْهُدَىٰٓ ٢٣

Saheeh International

They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance.

Tafseer 'Qurtubi Tafseer' (AR)

قوله تعالى : إن هي إلا أسماء سميتموها أي ما هي يعني هذه الأوثان إلا أسماء سميتموها يعني نحتموها وسميتموها آلهة . أنتم وآباؤكم أي قلدتموهم في ذلك .ما أنزل الله بها من سلطان أي ما أنزل الله بها من حجة ولا برهان .إن يتبعون إلا الظن عاد من الخطاب إلى الخبر أي ما يتبع هؤلاء إلا الظن .وما تهوى الأنفس أي تميل إليه . وقراءة العامة يتبعون بالياء . وقرأ عيسى بن عمر وأيوب وابن السميفع " تتبعون " بالتاء على الخطاب . وهي قراءة ابن مسعود وابن عباس .ولقد جاءهم من ربهم الهدى أي : البيان من جهة الرسول أنها ليست بآلهة .
