51:44
فَعَتَوْا۟عَنْأَمْرِرَبِّهِمْفَأَخَذَتْهُمُٱلصَّٰعِقَةُوَهُمْيَنظُرُونَ ٤٤

Saheeh International

But they were insolent toward the command of their Lord, so the thunderbolt seized them while they were looking on.

Tafseer 'Qurtubi Tafseer' (AR)

فعتوا عن أمر ربهم أي خالفوا أمر الله فعقروا الناقة فأخذتهم الصاعقة أي : الموت . وقيل : هي كل عذاب مهلك . قال الحسين بن واقد : كل صاعقة في القرآن فهو العذاب . وقرأ عمر بن الخطاب وحميد وابن محيصن ومجاهد والكسائي " الصعقة " يقال صعق الرجل صعقة وتصعاقا أي غشي عليه . وصعقتهم السماء أي ألقت عليهم الصاعقة . والصاعقة أيضا صيحة العذاب وقد مضى في " البقرة " وغيرها . وهم ينظرون إليها نهارا .
