كَانُوا۟قَلِيلًامِّنَٱلَّيْلِمَايَهْجَعُونَ ١٧

Saheeh International

They used to sleep but little of the night,

Tafseer 'Waseet Tafseer' (AR)

ثم بين - سبحانه - مظاهر إحسانهم فقال : ( كَانُواْ قَلِيلاً مِّن الليل مَا يَهْجَعُونَ ) أى كانوا ينامون من الليل وقتا قليلا ، أما أكثره فكانوا يقضونه فى العبادة والطاعة .والهجوع : النوم ليلا ، وقيده بعضهم بالنوم القليل ، إذ الهجعة هى النومة الخفيفة ، تقول : أتيت فلانا بعد هجعة ، أى بعد نومة قليلة .عن الحسن قال : كانوا لا ينامون من الليل إلا أقله ، كابدوا قيام الليل .
