43:38
حَتَّىٰٓإِذَاجَآءَنَاقَالَيَٰلَيْتَبَيْنِىوَبَيْنَكَبُعْدَٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِفَبِئْسَٱلْقَرِينُ ٣٨

Saheeh International

Until, when he comes to Us [at Judgement], he says [to his companion], "Oh, I wish there was between me and you the distance between the east and west - how wretched a companion."

Tafseer 'Ibn Kathir' (AR)

أي إذا وافى الله عز وجل يوم القيامة يتبرم من الشيطان الذي وكل به وقرأ بعضهم "حتى إذا جاءانا" يعني القرين والمقارن قال عبد الرزاق أخبرنا معمر عن سعيد الجريري قال: بلغنا أن الكافر إذا بعث من قبره يوم القيامة شفع بيده شيطان فلم يفارقه حتى يصيرهما الله تبارك وتعالى إلى النار فذلك حين يقول "يا ليت بيني وبينك بعد المشرقين فبئس القرين" والمراد بالمشرقين ههنا هو ما بين المشرق والمغرب وإنما استعمل ههنا تغليبا كما يقال: القمران والعمران والأبوان قاله ابن جرير وغيره.
