40:47
وَإِذْيَتَحَآجُّونَفِىٱلنَّارِفَيَقُولُٱلضُّعَفَٰٓؤُا۟لِلَّذِينَٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟إِنَّاكُنَّالَكُمْتَبَعًافَهَلْأَنتُممُّغْنُونَعَنَّانَصِيبًامِّنَٱلنَّارِ ٤٧

Saheeh International

And [mention] when they will argue within the Fire, and the weak will say to those who had been arrogant, "Indeed, we were [only] your followers, so will you relieve us of a share of the Fire?"

Tafseer 'Qurtubi Tafseer' (AR)

قوله تعالى : وإذ يتحاجون في النار أي يختصمون فيها فيقول الضعفاء للذين استكبروا عن الانقياد للأنبياء إنا كنا لكم تبعا فيما دعوتمونا إليه من الشرك في الدنيا فهل أنتم مغنون أي متحملون عنا نصيبا من النار أي جزءا من العذاب . والتبع يكون واحدا ويكون جمعا في قول البصريين واحده تابع . وقال أهل الكوفة : هو جمع لا واحد له كالمصدر فلذلك لم يجمع ولو جمع لقيل أتباع .
