قُلْيَٰٓأَهْلَٱلْكِتَٰبِلِمَتَصُدُّونَعَنسَبِيلِٱللَّهِمَنْءَامَنَتَبْغُونَهَاعِوَجًاوَأَنتُمْشُهَدَآءُوَمَاٱللَّهُبِغَٰفِلٍعَمَّاتَعْمَلُونَ ٩٩

Saheeh International

Say, "O People of the Scripture, why do you avert from the way of Allah those who believe, seeking to make it [seem] deviant, while you are witnesses [to the truth]? And Allah is not unaware of what you do."

Tafseer 'Baghawy Tafseer' (AR)

( قل ياأهل الكتاب لم تصدون عن سبيل الله ) أي : لم تصرفون عن دين الله ، ( من آمن تبغونها ) تطلبونها ، ( عوجا ) زيغا وميلا يعني : لم تصدون عن سبيل الله باغين لها عوجا؟ قال أبو عبيدة : العوج - بالكسر - في الدين والقول والعمل والعوج - بالفتح - في الجدار ، وكل شخص قائم ، ( وأنتم شهداء وما الله بغافل عما تعملون ) [ أن في التوراة مكتوبا ] نعت محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وإن دين الله الذي لا يقبل غيره هو الإسلام .
