39:54
وَأَنِيبُوٓا۟إِلَىٰرَبِّكُمْوَأَسْلِمُوا۟لَهُۥمِنقَبْلِأَنيَأْتِيَكُمُٱلْعَذَابُثُمَّلَاتُنصَرُونَ ٥٤

Saheeh International

And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped.

Tafseer 'Tafsir Ibn Kathir' (IN)

Kemudian Allah Swt. menganjurkan kepada hamba-hamba-Nya untuk segera bergegas bertobat. Untuk itu Allah Swt. berfirman:

Dan kembalilah kamu kepada Tuhanmu dan berserah dirilah kepada-Nya. (Az-Zumar: 54), hingga akhir ayat.

Maksudnya, kembalilah kamu ke jalan Allah dan berserah dirilah sepenuhnya kepada-Nya.

sebelum datang azab kepadamu, kemudian kamu tidak dapat ditolong lagi. (Az-Zumar: 54)

Yakni segeralah bertobat dan mengerjakan amal saleh, sebelum azab menimpamu.
