39:49
فَإِذَامَسَّٱلْإِنسَٰنَضُرٌّدَعَانَاثُمَّإِذَاخَوَّلْنَٰهُنِعْمَةًمِّنَّاقَالَإِنَّمَآأُوتِيتُهُۥعَلَىٰعِلْمٍۭبَلْهِىَفِتْنَةٌوَلَٰكِنَّأَكْثَرَهُمْلَايَعْلَمُونَ ٤٩

Saheeh International

And when adversity touches man, he calls upon Us; then when We bestow on him a favor from Us, he says, "I have only been given it because of [my] knowledge." Rather, it is a trial, but most of them do not know.

Tafseer 'Baghawy Tafseer' (AR)

( فإذا مس الإنسان ضر ) شدة ، ( دعانا ثم إذا خولناه ) أعطيناه ( نعمة منا قال إنما أوتيته على علم ) أي : على علم من الله أني له أهل . وقال مقاتل : على خير علمه الله عندي ، وذكر الكناية لأن المراد من النعمة الإنعام . ( بل هي فتنة ) يعني : تلك النعمة فتنة استدراج من الله تعالى وامتحان وبلية . وقيل : بل كلمته التي قالها فتنة . ( ولكن أكثرهم لا يعلمون ) أنه استدراج وامتحان .
