تِلْكَأُمَّةٌقَدْخَلَتْلَهَامَاكَسَبَتْوَلَكُممَّاكَسَبْتُمْوَلَاتُسْـَٔلُونَعَمَّاكَانُوا۟يَعْمَلُونَ ١٣٤

Saheeh International

That was a nation which has passed on. It will have [the consequence of] what it earned, and you will have what you have earned. And you will not be asked about what they used to do.

Tafseer 'Ibn Kathir' (AR)

وقوله تعالى "تلك أمة قد خلت" أي مضت" لها ما كسبت ولكم ما كسبتم" أي إن السلف الماضين من آبائكم من الأنبياء والصالحين لا ينفعكم انتسابكم إليهم إذا لم تفعلوا خيرا يعود نفعه عليكم فإن لهم أعمالهم التي عملوها ولكم أعمالكم "ولا تسئلون عما كانوا يعملون" وقال أبو العالية والربيع وقتادة "تلك أمة قد خلت" يعني إبراهيم وإسماعيل وإسحاق ويعقوب والأسباط ولهذا جاء في الأثر "من أبطأ به عمله لم يسرع به نسبه".
