28:64
وَقِيلَٱدْعُوا۟شُرَكَآءَكُمْفَدَعَوْهُمْفَلَمْيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟لَهُمْوَرَأَوُا۟ٱلْعَذَابَلَوْأَنَّهُمْكَانُوا۟يَهْتَدُونَ ٦٤

Saheeh International

And it will be said, "Invoke your 'partners' " and they will invoke them; but they will not respond to them, and they will see the punishment. If only they had followed guidance!

Tafseer 'Qurtubi Tafseer' (AR)

قوله تعالى : وقيل أي للكفار ادعوا شركاءكم أي استغيثوا بآلهتكم التي عبدتموها في الدنيا لتنصركم وتدفع عنكم . فدعوهم أي استغاثوا بهم . فلم يستجيبوا لهم أي فلم يجيبوهم ولم ينتفعوا بهم . ورأوا العذاب لو أنهم كانوا يهتدون قال الزجاج : جواب ( لو ) محذوف ; والمعنى : لو أنهم كانوا يهتدون لأنجاهم الهدى ، ولما صاروا إلى العذاب ، وقيل : أي لو أنهم كانوا يهتدون ما دعوهم . وقيل : المعنى : ودوا حين رأوا العذاب لو أنهم كانوا يهتدون في الدنيا إذا رأوا العذاب يوم القيامة
