وَأَصْحَٰبُمَدْيَنَوَكُذِّبَمُوسَىٰفَأَمْلَيْتُلِلْكَٰفِرِينَثُمَّأَخَذْتُهُمْفَكَيْفَكَانَنَكِيرِ ٤٤

Saheeh International

And the inhabitants of Madyan. And Moses was denied, so I prolonged enjoyment for the disbelievers; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My reproach.

Tafseer 'Qurtubi Tafseer' (AR)

وكذب موسى أي كذبه فرعون وقومه . فأما بنو إسرائيل فما كذبوه ، فلهذا لم يعطفه على ما قبله فيكون وقوم موسى . فأمليت للكافرين أي أخرت عنهم العقوبة . ثم أخذتهم فعاقبتهم . فكيف كان نكير استفهام بمعنى التغيير ؛ أي فانظر كيف كان تغييري ما كانوا فيه من النعم بالعذاب والهلاك ، فكذلك أفعل بالمكذبين من قريش . قال الجوهري : النكير والإنكار تغيير المنكر ، والمنكر واحد المناكير .
