فَأَرَدْنَآأَنيُبْدِلَهُمَارَبُّهُمَاخَيْرًامِّنْهُزَكَوٰةًوَأَقْرَبَرُحْمًا ٨١
Saheeh International
So we intended that their Lord should substitute for them one better than him in purity and nearer to mercy.

Tafseer 'Tafsir Kemenag RI' (IN)
(81) Ayat ini menjelaskan bahwa Khidir mengharapkan supaya Allah memberi rezeki kepada kedua orang tuanya itu dan seorang anak laki-laki yang lebih baik dari anaknya yang telah dibunuh itu, dan lebih banyak kasih sayangnya kepada ibu bapaknya. Tindakan Khidir membunuh anak tersebut dilandasi oleh keinginan agar pada waktunya Allah dapat menggantikan anak itu dengan yang lebih baik akhlaknya.
