فَعَسَىٰرَبِّىٓأَنيُؤْتِيَنِخَيْرًامِّنجَنَّتِكَوَيُرْسِلَعَلَيْهَاحُسْبَانًامِّنَٱلسَّمَآءِفَتُصْبِحَصَعِيدًازَلَقًا ٤٠

Saheeh International

It may be that my Lord will give me [something] better than your garden and will send upon it a calamity from the sky, and it will become a smooth, dusty ground,

Tafseer 'Ibn Kathir' (AR)

وقوله: " فعسى ربي أن يؤتين خيرًا من جنتك " أي في الدار الآخرة " ويرسل عليها " أي على جنتك في الدنيا التي ظننت أنها لا تبيد ولا تفنى " حسبانًا من السماء " قال ابن عباس والضحاك وقتادة ومالك عن الزهري أي عذابًا من السماء والظاهر أنه مطر عظيم مزعج يقلع زرعها وأشجارها ولهذا قال " فتصبح صعيداً زلقًا " أي بلقعًا ترابًا أملس لا يثبت فيه قدم وقال ابن عباس: كالجرز الذي لا ينبت شيئًا.
