وَكَانَلَهُۥثَمَرٌفَقَالَلِصَٰحِبِهِۦوَهُوَيُحَاوِرُهُۥٓأَنَا۠أَكْثَرُمِنكَمَالًاوَأَعَزُّنَفَرًا ٣٤

Saheeh International

And he had fruit, so he said to his companion while he was conversing with him, "I am greater than you in wealth and mightier in [numbers of] men."

Tafseer 'Ibn Kathir' (AR)

"وكان له ثمر " قيل المراد به المال روي عن ابن عباس ومجاهد وقتادة وقيل الثمار وهو أظهر ههنا ويؤيده القراءة الأخرى وكان له ثمر بضم الثاء وتسكين الميم فيكون جمع ثمرة كخشبة وخشب.وقرأ آخرون ثمر بفتح الثاء والميم فقال أي صاحب هاتين الجنتين لصاحبه وهو يحاوره أي يجادله ويخاصمه يفتخر عليه ويترأس " أنا أكثر منك مالا وأعز نفرًا " أي أكثر خدمًا وحشمًا وولدًا قال قتادة تلك والله أمنية الفاجر كثرة المال وعزة النفر.
