12:42
وَقَالَلِلَّذِىظَنَّأَنَّهُۥنَاجٍمِّنْهُمَاٱذْكُرْنِىعِندَرَبِّكَفَأَنسَىٰهُٱلشَّيْطَٰنُذِكْرَرَبِّهِۦفَلَبِثَفِىٱلسِّجْنِبِضْعَسِنِينَ ٤٢

Saheeh International

And he said to the one whom he knew would go free, "Mention me before your master." But Satan made him forget the mention [to] his master, and Joseph remained in prison several years.

Tafseer 'Tafsir Ahsanul Bayaan' (UR)

اور جس کی نسبت یوسف کا گمان تھا کہ ان دونوں میں سے یہ چھوٹ جائے گا اس سے کہا کہ اپنے بادشاہ سے میرا ذکر بھی کر دینا پھر اسے شیطان نے اپنے بادشاہ سے ذکر کرنا بھلا دیا اور یوسف نے کئی سال قید خانے میں ہی کاٹے (١)۔ ٤٢۔١ بضع کا لفظ تین سے لے کر نو تک عدد کے لیے بولا جاتا ہے، وہب بن منبہ کا قول ہے۔ حضرت ایوب علیہ السلام آزمائش میں اور یوسف علیہ السلام قید خانے میں سات سال رہے اور بخت نصر کا عذاب بھی سات سال رہا اور بعض کے نزدیک بارہ سال اور بعض کے نزدیک چودہ سال قید خانے میں رہے۔ واللہ اعلم۔
